CKC Registered German Shepherds |
Our focus is to continue moving forward
in improving the German Shepherd in Structure, hip and elbow soundness, reliable stable
temperament, excelling in trainability and maintaining the protective instinct, without
the inappropriate aggression; PLUS win in the performance ring.
Our German Shepherd Kennel will never settle for an average looking dog. A
well bred German Shepherd dog should never look common. We will never settle for average
movement nor will we use extreme moving dogs. We will only use German Shepherds with the
winning edge, that are noble, keen, well structured, with a winning temperament, always
keeping in mind the Breed Standard.
We only use correct moving German Shepherds from one generation to the next.
They must be able to move correct according to the breed standard so they can work/play
all day for many years to come. The majority of our German shepherd puppies for sale are
placed in new homes through previous buyer referrals. There is nothing more pleasing than
to own a well mannered, good natured, gorgeous Whispawillow German Shepherd puppy.
"You cannot build a reputation on what you are
going to do"
Whispawillow Kennels was
founded 1999 in Edmonton, Alberta.
We relocated our kennel to Leroy,
Saskatchewan in 2000 and have spent the next 10 years focusing on
developing a breeding program with high quality show dogs that has now
brought us to where we are today.
In 2010 Whispawillow Kennels made a big
move to the garden of Saskatchewan;
Kamsack.
The town of Kamsack is conveniently located on the junction of highway 5 & 8
and is center of three major centers: Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg. Check
out our distance to: Duck Mountain Provincial Park: 23 km - Yorkton:
80 km - Regina: 267 km - Saskatoon: 349 km - Winnipeg: 470 km and Minot: 447
km
With the big move we
decided it was time to reduce our kennel size.
The decision to reduce the number of dogs we keep will help us to better
focus on producing the best we can produce,
without compromising quality in structure, temperament and trainability.

My love affair with German Shepherds has been long over 30 years now. I originally fell in love
with the breed because of its legendary intelligence and loyalty. That
still stands true today however their beauty and movement have also
become very important to me too.
Canadian
Champion Crystaridge's Winning Legend was the gal that combined many
things I loved about the breed, a BIS Ch.
Crystaridge's Hallmark daughter. Teaka and I did conformation,
unofficial obedience, raised my 2 kids and finally raised 3 outstanding
litters of puppies resulting in many champions to continue on where she
left off. Teaka was one of
five gals acquired from Crystaridge's GSDs but she certainly was
the gal that made the dream a reality and the start of my breeding program.
I also
acquired one male from Crystaridge who also helped get my breeding
program started; Ch.
Crystaridge's Grand Odyssey, OVC
Since then I have added bloodlines from
all over North America with "Tyson" Canadian Champion Abbaway Shephaven
Time To Fly, OFA making the biggest impact in my breeding program.
Tyson
is the "TOP DOG" here and the producer of multiple Champions. Tyson is
now sharing his title of "Stud" with his sons, grandsons and other studs
bred by or acquired by me. Majority of our brood bitches now are
Tyson daughters or granddaughters.
Tyson will always be TOP DOG here and
will grow old by my side. |

Our Breeding Program
Philosophy
My goal is to contribute dogs excelling in soundness, performance,
beauty and style.
- A beautiful dog is physically and mentally sound.
- A sound dog is a healthy dog with a long life span.
- A sound dog is free of crippling hip and elbow dysplasia.
- The breeding of sound dogs requires a thorough knowledge of
all dogs in a pedigree, going back multiple generations.
- A sound dog will have the capacity to perform in sports like
conformation, obedience, agility and herding.
- A sound dog will be a friendly, yet protective, family
companion.
Beauty is determined by the degree to which the dog conforms to the
official breed standard. This standard defines the proper structure of
the dog from nose to tail, describes how the dog should move at a trot,
and outlines correct temperament.
Style is a matter of personal preference regarding appearance plus
attitude. I like a “classic” type Canadian-bred dog with deep rich
pigment, a plush coat, tight feet, nice sloping top line, a beautiful
head and the unmistakable “look of eagles”. In attitude, I
like an intelligent dog who drips in nobility, yet exhibits playfulness
and a sense of humour; a dog who is gentle, yet would give his life to
protect his family.
I am a member of the national breed club; The
German Shepherd Dog Club of Canada. I am a signatory of
the Breeders’ Code of Ethics with the club. |

I spend
much of my time in the paddocks and kennel - and my dogs enjoy the
fields as much as I do. Life in town is fine, but moving out to the
country is freedom! The dogs swim, play, hike, and partake in many
country outings. It's our special place and the pups soon learn when we
are heading for the field or a dog show. |
 |
|
Like many breeders in out of the way areas, it is challenging to
find local show homes for our best pups so many of them stay with me or have to move to show homes far away.
I love reunions with past
puppy buyers and hearing of their successes with their Whispawillow
pups. After all, German Shepherds are happiest when performing a task -
be it helping the physically challenged or supervising the family kids
or going fishing with their Dad.
Raising and properly training German
Shepherd dogs is work and requires dedication, but it is incredibly
rewarding. This is a very special breed and I feel humbled to be part
of its future. |
